Rena Q. Gallagher, 93

Rena Gallagher

Rena Quint Gallagher, 93, of Fryeburg, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2019, while in residence at the Bella Point Fryeburg Assisted Living facility.

Rena was born on April 25, 1926, in Conway, N.H. She was a graduate of Kennett High School. Rena married Ralph B. Gallagher, of Fryeburg, in October of 1945. They were married 33 years. Rena made a career as a homemaker and a stay-at-home mother. She had a great love of her flower gardens, knitting projects and her favorite thing, cleaning her house. Together, they raised three children, Larry, Jill and Todd. Although Rena never played sports, she attended as many events as she could. She most often was found pushing her lawn mower and weeding her flowerbeds that many referred to as the garden spot of Stuart Street.

Rena did take her turn in the work force on different occasions in her life. She worked at the Maine State Liquor store in Fryeburg; she also did home daycare for many children in town; she then was a cook at the Charles A. Snow School in Fryeburg; and a housekeeping member at the Hicks Nursing Home on Oxford Street in Fryeburg.

Rena was predeceased by her husband of 33 years, Ralph Gallagher; her mother, Grace Purdy Quint; her father, Haven Earl Quint; brothers, Theodore Quint, Richard Quint Sr. and Arnold Quint; and sister, Margie Quint Sanders.

She is survived by her brother, Danny Quint Sr.; her sons, Larry B. Gallagher and Todd Gallagher; her daughter, Jill Sanphy; and countless nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made, on behalf of Rena, to the Bella Point Fryeburg Assisted Living Facility in Fryeburg, or the Androscoggin Home Healthcare and Hospice, Lewiston, Maine.

A graveside service was held on Wednesday, Aug. 28, at 11 a.m. at Pine Grove Cemetery in Fryeburg. Following the service, an ice cream reception was held in the cafeteria at the Fryeburg Fairgrounds.

Arrangements are under the care of Wood Funeral Home, 9 Warren Street, Fryeburg. Online condolences may be shared with her family at www.woodfuneralhome.org
