Manager’s update: Casco Town Office to reopen June 1; Community Center to remain closed
Casco Town Manager Courtney O’Donnell provided the following update Tuesday afternoon:
“As the number of COVID-19 cases continues to increase, it is important to understand the Town is largely subject to the same state orders as everyone else. With that said, the Town of Casco continues to make decisions that we believe are in the best interest for the community while taking into account the latest information, guidance, and mandates from state and federal authorities.
Our goal remains to ensure the safety of our employees and residents in the most responsible ways possible. We apologize for the inconveniences that these measures have and will cause.
Beginning Monday, June 1, 2020, the Town Office will open to citizens by appointment only for those who are unable to conduct municipal business online, through mail and drop box, or on the phone. Citizens are asked to wear (face) masks and practice physical distancing.
To make an appointment, call 627-4515, ext. 0 (leave a message if you do not get a person) or by e-mailing mporee@cascomaine.org.
The Community Center building will remain closed to the public while the governor’s Stay at Home Order is in place. We expect to offer limited recreational activities (both inside and out) in the coming months, provided we are able to do so safely.
For the most part, outdoor recreational facilities, such as beaches, will be open to the public (some only during certain hours) so long as people practice physical distancing and respect the posted rules. This will be reviewed on a regular basis and is likely to change. Any questions about recreation should be directed to Recreation Director Beth Latsey at recreation@cascomaine.org or 627-4515 ext. 217.
We strongly encourage residents to practice social distancing and follow all other guidelines provided by the CDC and State of Maine. The more steps taken by individuals to limit exposure, the better of everyone is.
If you have recently traveled/entered Maine, please self-quarantine for 14 days to ensure you are not contributing to the spread of COVID-19."
