George E. Chaisson, 81

George E. “Bumpa” Chaisson, 81, of Bridgton, died unexpectedly, Thursday, Oct. 1, 2020 at his home in Bridgton.
He was born on, June 14, 1939, in Mexico, ME, one of 13 children to, Philip J. and Jessie (MacPherson) Chaisson.
On June 27, 1964, he married, Jacqueline Desilets in South Paris. As a young couple, George and Jackie lived in Norway, Lewiston and for a short time in Bedford, N.H. before settling in Bridgton in 1977, where he went to work for Miriam & Sons in Naples as a carpenter.
George went out on his own in the carpentry field starting, Quality Home Repair in the mid-1980s. His business served he and his family well over the years and he retired at 65.
You could set your watch by George’s schedule on most days. He could be found at the Morning Glory Diner first thing in the morning (where he was lovingly nicknamed, “Grumpy George”), at the post office at 11 a.m. and getting a cup of coffee from Dunkin Donuts at 1 p.m.
He played Bocce ball on the same team for 30 years and bowled in leagues for almost the same. As a younger man, he was a member of the Norway Trackers Snowmobile Club and the camping association that used to be on Saturday Pond in Otisfield. He enjoyed sharing his love of the game of cribbage to his grandchildren and just being in the company of his family.
George will be sadly missed by his wife, Jackie of Bridgton; three daughters, Paula Tripp and her husband, Michael of Bridgton, Rae-Ann Guzman of Raymond and Heidi Edwards and her husband, Sean of Bridgton; eight grandchildren, Nicole Muise, Josh Tripp, Lindley LaMontagne, Taylor Edwards, Alexis Guzman, Michaela Tripp, Leah and Molly Edwards; eight great-grandchildren, Dakota, Jacoby, Jackson, Ally, Eli, Wesley, Everleigh, Judith and Maddix; a sister, Jeannine Sullivan of Cambridge, Mass.
He was predeceased by his parents; 11 siblings; and a great granddaughter, Avery Guzman.
George’s family will celebrate his life “Chaisson style” with a party to be held at “Party Central” (the Chaisson house, 340 Kansas Road in Bridgton) on Sunday, Oct. 11 at 1 p.m. Bring a mask and bring a chair.
