Holiday hunt — Take hike, find this tree

LOVELL — Since 2017, volunteer docent Juli Coombs of Bridgton and her children have decorated a tree on a Greater Lovell Land Trust trail.
This year’s tree is located somewhere along the Wilson Wing Moose Pond Bog Reserve trail on Horseshoe Pond Road in Lovell.
Parking is on the side of Horseshoe Pond Road just above the boat launch.
If you would like to add a biodegradable ornament, please do so. Just don’t overdo it. GLLT likes to keep things simple and subtle.
Your challenges:
• Locate the tree and pose beside it for a selfie.
• Send GLLT the selfie so it can continue to promote this activity: leigh.hayes@gllt.org
• Tell GLLT what type of evergreen it is.
• If you choose, create a few ornaments to add to the tree, e.g. orange or apple slices; pinecones smeared with peanut butter and birdseed, etc.
• Enjoy the journey. Finding the tree is your reward.
With the rise in pandemic cases, GLLT has put in-person gatherings on hold, but check its website often for updates of other opportunities to explore and learn: gllt.org.
Greater Lovell Land Trust has been there through these wild and uncertain times by offering new environmental education activities, carrying out familiar programs with a compliant twist, and working hard to maintain trails and lands for all to enjoy and find renewal.
