Basil Flanigan, loving husband, father, brother and son, passed away at home on Saturday, July 3, 2021. He was 70 years old.

Predeceased by his father, mother, and brother, Arthur, Ruth and Brett Roy Flanigan of Casco, and his best friend and wife of 47 years, Julie Flanigan, they are now all together again laughing and loving in peace.

Basil was best known for his big laugh and his even bigger heart. He was a mentor to many and the life of most parties, bringing friends and family together without even trying.

Basil spent most of his life as a business owner or supervising others. He had a special talent for bringing the best out of those around him and his generous personality impacted many. After years of skiing at Shawnee Peak and boating on LongLake, he and Julie retired to Florida to enjoy fishing, snorkeling and relaxing on the beach. They were inseparable from the start and will remain so in the afterlife.

Left to cherish his memory are his sister, Gloria Fillebrown of Naples; brother and sister-in-law, Dennis and Carol Flanigan of McMinnville, Tenn.; sister and brother-in-law, Susan and Ronald Edson of Bridgton; sister, Vicki Flanigan of Hiram; and daughter and son-in-law, Julie Bennett and Archie Rodriguez of Houston, Texas; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and all their respective families and friends, which would require an entire newspaper to list.

He was and will continue to be loved by many and forgotten by none.
