Thursday, May 1
Friendship Button Club will resume its schedule of meeting on the first Thursday of the month. The Button Club meeting is from noon to 2 p.m. at the United Parish Congregational Church of Harrison and North Bridgton, 77 Main Street.
Cribbage every Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Naples Town Office, come to play or to learn.
Community Kettle. The Bridgton-Lake Region Rotary Club will host another Community Kettle at the Bridgton Community Center (BCC) at 5 p.m. The menu will be boneless barbecue chicken thighs, sweet potato, and coleslaw with sherbet for dessert. Free of charge, all welcome.

Public Breakfast at Delta Masonic Lodge, 920 Lovell Road, Lovell. Menu: Scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, home fries, French toast, pancakes, blueberry pancakes, baked beans, orange juice, milk, and coffee. Gluten free available. Time: 7 to 9:30 a.m. or until food runs out. This fundraising event will refill the Lodge’s charity coffers.

Rummage Sale atSt. Catherine of Sienna Church, 32 Paris Street in Norway, from 9 to 11:30 a.m. At 11 a.m., a special “Fill a Bag for $1” deal will begin, giving bargain hunters a chance to stock up on great finds at an unbeatable price. Handicapped access to the church hall is available. Proceeds from the sale will support the church’s free Thanksgiving Dinner.
Jeanette’s Closet, the free clothing room at the First Congregational Church of Bridgton-UCC, will hold an extra day opening to allow people that cannot come during the week to look for clothing from 9 to 11 a.m. This is in addition to its usual Tuesday operating hours of 9 to 11 a.m.
Drive-Thru Rabies Clinic from 9 a.m. to noon at the Fryeburg Fairgrounds, across from the Main Gate. The clinic is for both cats and dogs. Fee: $15, cash only. Please, no sick or pregnant pets. Puppies and kittens must be 12 weeks of age to receive rabies vaccine. Bring valid rabies certificate and receive a three-year certificate. Rabies only, no distemper vaccination due to Maine State law. Sponsored by Fryeburg Veterinary Hospital. Proceeds benefit Harvest Hills Animal Shelter.
Shred-a-Thon. The Bridgton-Lake Region Rotary Club looks to help residents protect their personal information by hosting a Community Shredding Event from 8 a.m. to Noon at the Food City parking lot in Bridgton. It will offer secure document disposal, reducing the risk of identity theft caused by discarded personal records. Suggested donation for a bag or box measuring approximately 15 x 12 x 10 is $18.

Guide to Local Government. Volunteers from the League of Women Voters will present “A Guide to Local Government in Maine” at 6:30 p.m. at the Harrison Village Library. This is a free program and open to the public.

Spring Tea. The Fryeburg Historical Society will present a Spring Tea from 1 to 3 p.m. at 83 Portland Street in Fryeburg. Cost: $15 per guest. On the menu: scones, tea sandwiches and sweet treats. Due to limited seating, reservations are suggested but not required.
Waterford Fair Public Supper at the North Waterford Church, Irving Green Road, North Waterford, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Menu: Baked stuffed haddock, beverage and homemade dessert. Cost: $17.
Community Dinner is being hosted by the East Otisfield Free Baptist Church from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Menu: Classic meat lasagna, cheese lasagna, assorted pasta dishes, meatballs & sausages, salad and rolls, with assorted bars for dessert. The church is located at 231 Rayville Road in Otisfield, (1 mile off Route 121). The dinner is a free event, open to the public, but donations are graciously accepted. All donations are used to address needs in the community.

Clash of Cultures. A performance by the Penobscot Singers, a men’s drum group from the Penobscot Nation on Indian Island near Old Town, on Saturday, beginning at 6 p.m. at the Fryeburg Academy Leura Hill Eastman Performing Arts Center, hosted by the Fryeburg Historical Society, followed by guest speakers are Dr. Steven C. Eames, Professor of History (ret.) and Ken Hamilton, an expert on Algonquian-speaking cultures of the northeast. The Fryeburg Historical Society will have artifacts on display in the lobby and members of the MicMac community will be selling their crafts. This is a free event open to the public. Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Sunday from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., the Fryeburg Historical Society will host a living history education opportunity at the Fryeburg Fairgrounds. Harmon’s Snowshoe Men will replicate an 18th century colonist’s campsite and demonstrate their musket skills at 11 a.m., 1 and 3 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Sunday.

Bridgton Hospital Community Health Fair, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Hospital tours, meet providers (now accepting new patients), learn CPR, mammogram screenings (for those who qualify), job and career information, teddy bear clinic.
Kids to Park Day, a national day of outdoor play, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Anna & Kendall Ham Athletic Complex (40 Brag Way) in Bridgton. Activities include archery, biking, crafts, games and community fun with local partners. Free and open to all.
Public Supper. The first Edes Falls Sewing Circle Bean Supper of the year will be held at the Edes Falls Community Hall in Naples. Seatings are at 4 and 5 p.m. The menu: Two types of beans, chop suey, coleslaw, the famous pink stuff, homemade pies and more! Cost: $12 for adults and $4 for children.

United Parish Concert Series begins May 18 at 3 p.m. featuring singer and songwriter Terry Swett, who performs original songs and American classics. SAD 61 District Wide Fine Arts Festival from 4 to 7 p.m. at Lake Region High School. One day only this year. Bring a clean t-shirt to have this year’s design silk screened on it. There will be music, presenting artists, and every student K to 8 will have one piece of art in the show (unless they did not attend classes).

Lunch & Swap. A Community Lunch & (small item) Swap will be held at the East Otisfield Community Hall at 292 Route 121 between 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. It is free.
