BROWNFIELD — Carolyn Jackson, 88, passed away peacefully at her home of natural causes on Wednesday, April 3, 2019.
She was born in Brownfield, the daughter of Arnold and Olive (Dennett) Walker on July 24, 1930. After high school, Carolyn went on to school and became a hairdresser. In 1950, she married Paul Jackson and two years later they had their daughter Carol Ann, Carolyn’s pride and joy. She loved making Carol’s clothes and put her special touches on each piece. Carolyn loved her home and family.
Carolyn worked many jobs including Western Maine Nursery in the summers, Fryeburg Corn Shop and Fryeburg Fair in the fall. She also worked for Eastland Shoe Co., as well as different retail shops in the area. Carolyn was an expert seamstress and tailor. She made her own clothes, as well as Carol’s. She always dressed well and was known for her iconic red lipstick. She also loved crafts of any kind, especially making dolls, which she sold at craft fairs. She was an avid reader.
Paul and Carolyn loved to travel with family and friends, and especially enjoyed the Amish area of Pennsylvania, Eustis and Greenville. Her friends that she chatted with on the phone will miss her daily calls.
Carolyn is predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Paul; her parents; sister Joyce Brooks; and a nephew.
She is survived by her daughter, Carol Ann Wright of Brownfield; two step-grandsons and a step-great-granddaughter, nieces and nephews.
