Cathy J. Cantin

NAPLES — Cathy J. Cantin, 73, of Naples, died Monday, April 7, 2025, at the Andwell Hospice House in Auburn.
Cathy was born on Dec. 3, 1951, a daughter of William C. and Dorothy (Soule) Lewis. She attended one of the last 1 room school house in Portland, graduating from Portland High School. She got her BA in accounting later in life.
She married Richard J. Cantin on September 24, 1971, in Portland where they lived until 1977 before moving to Naples.
As a young woman she worked for many years as a teacher’s assistant in the Lake Region school district and then as a manager in a daycare facility. It was in her 60s however, that she found her calling and took divinity classes so that she could minister in the Methodist church, serving the Fryeburg Harbor and Bridgton Methodist churches.
She and Richard were very active in the church including the many years that they belonged to the Naples United Methodist Church.
Cathy was a dear friend to her community and will be remembered for many things including her love of the church, her family and her ability with a pair of knitting needles and a ball of yarn.
She is survived by her mother, Dorothy Lewis of Casco; a daughter, Jill Crockett and her husband, Aaron of Sebago and their children, Tanner, Gabrielle, and Ethan; a brother, William Lewis Jr. of Portland; a sister, Linda Cates of Bingham and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her father in 2000 and her husband, Richard, on Jan. 15 of this year.
A graveside service will be held for Cathy and Richard at the Burnt Meadow Cemetery in Brownfield on Friday, May 30, 2025 at 11 a.m.
