Gloria Jean Douglass, 75, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family, on Tuesday, August 29, 2023. Her departure leaves an indelible void in the hearts of all who knew her. Gloria’s life was a testament to love, resilience, and the enduring bonds of family.

Gloria was born on November 11, 1947, to Alfred and Beryl Monson. She grew up in Denmark, Maine, amidst the beauty of the region that she would forever call home. She was a daughter, sister and friend from an early age known for her infectious laughter and warm personality. After completing her education at Fryeburg Academy, Gloria became a beautician, working at the El-FA-BR Salon in Bridgton until the birth of her first son. Gloria later ran a daycare out of her home while her sons were young. She supported her husband, Gibb, with various ventures they had together. Most notably, her work as an office administrator in their Fryeburg Bottled Gas business, which was later purchased by White Mountain Oil, where she continued her work in their offices until her retirement in 2013.

Gloria leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and shared moments. She is survived by her husband, Gilbert “Gibb” Douglass; their two sons, Dean and his longtime partner, Annie Murch of Fryeburg and Todd and his wife Lori of Bridgton; her five grandchildren Scott and his fiancee, Nikki Wheeler of Harrison, MacKenzie, Alexander, Boone and Brayden; her four great-grandchildren Bronwyn, Connor, Wyatt and Archer.

Gloria was predeceased by her sister, Sharon Bisson.

A time to gather and celebrate Gloria’s life will be held on Sunday, September 10, 2023 from 1-3 p.m. at the Hall Funeral Home, 165 Quaker Ridge Road in Casco.

As we bid farewell to Gloria, let us remember the joy she brought into our lives and carry forward the lessons of love and compassion she taught us. In our hearts, her spirit will live on, and her memory will forever inspire us to be better, kinder, and more connected to those we hold dear.
