Joseph E. Bardsley passed on October 16, 2023, at the age of 70 and was a lifelong resident of Bridgton.

Joe’s love for sports began with numerous neighborhood whiffle ball and football games at 1 Elm Street. He graduated from Lake Region High School in 1971, lettering in football, basketball, and baseball and continued on to UMaine Orono to play football.

He was a faithful New Englander, rarely missing a Patriots or Red Sox game.

His parents instilled his love of the outdoors by teaching him to hunt, fish and canoe at their family camp on Pleasant Pond.

Joe leaves behind his wife of 51 years, Susan, his daughter, Ursula, and son-in-law Gordon, four grandchildren, Caitlin, Cayla, Campbell, and Camryn, along with two nephews, two great nephews, one great niece and one cousin.

He was predeceased by his parents, Clayton and Arlene, his son, Sam, his brother, Tom, and friends Bill and Bob.

The family will honor his wishes with a private celebration of life. As Joe was an avid reader and advocate of the written word, in honor of his memory, donations may be made to the Bridgton Public Library.
