Kranin RE collecting contributions to help assault victim

Halimo Azair, who suffered injuries to her arms, face and head in an assault at her Dawes Hill Road home in Harrison last week, has been a respected and valued employee of Krainin Real Estate’s vacation rental department for eight years.

“We were all heartbroken by the events of July 19, and have taken up a collection for her among our office staff and brokers,” according to Maggie Krainin.

Anyone else who would like to contribute through Krainin may contact them directly at 655-3811, or use the GoFundMe page that Halimo’s friends and neighbors have posted.

On the GoFundMe page, the explanation for the Halimo Azair Recovery Fund reads, “Dear friends, loved ones, and fellow humans, a close community member of ours, Halimo Azair, desperately needs our help! We are all well aware of the tragedy that occurred just a few days ago. I (Abby Winslow created the page on July 23) am here to try to raise funds for Halimo and her family. We, as a community, need to come together in this time of need to show our love, support and compassion for our fellow neighbor. I don’t personally know Halimo, however my grandparents have been an integral part in supporting her and her family for many years. Halimo has always worked tirelessly to support her family and farm. Please find it in your hearts to give monetarily or simply by stopping in (if you’re local) to offer hay, grain or support for their animals. I’m sure Halimo and her family would appreciate any gesture large or small even if it’s just a prayer.”

As of Tuesday, $1,540 has been pledged by 24 people in six days. The goal is to raise $100,000.

In comments posted on the page, Halimo is described as having “the brightest smile” and is “so sweet.” Another added, “She is a very strong and caring person who spreads positivity everywhere she goes. We all love her and are praying for her and her family.”

Mohamed Noh, 24, allegedly stabbed and beat his mother outside of their home. He reportedly stabbed Halimo multiple times with a knife and struck her with a splitting maul as she cared for the family’s goats. Noh has been charged with elevated aggravated assault.
