Lawrence E. Shackley Sr., 73

Lawrence E. Shackley Sr., (Larry, Old Dad, Big Guy) 73, of Bridgton, passed away on Monday, Oct. 5, 2020, at his home with his family by his side.
He was born in Portland on Nov. 13, 1946, the son of Edward L. and Madelyn Trumble Shackley. He graduated from Bridgton High School in the Class of 1965. He worked for Tarr Electric, then 25 years in Environmental Services at Northern Cumberland Memorial Hospital (Bridgton Hospital) and finished his working career self-employed at L.E. Shackley.
He enjoyed going to the rifle range, hunting, bowling and being with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as the daycare kids his wife took care of throughout the years. He also enjoyed his daily visits to Ricky’s Diner and his morning coffee with the Coffee Club Boys. He will always be remembered for his constant smile, all his jokes, and especially all his stories that were typically of his grandchildren and greatgrandchildren.
He was the vice president of the Maine Coon Hound Association.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years Lola (Wiggin) Shackley of Bridgton; five children, Lisa (Ken) Lane of Bridgton, Lawrence (Larry) Jr. (Julie) of Bridgton, Lori (Ken) of Lewiston, Luke (Desneiges) of Herman, and Lynne of Naples; grandchildren, Jessica Lane (Jacob) Webb, Krystal Lane (Tyler) Murphy, Kayla Dittmeyer, Kassandra (Scott) Shackley, Gage and Skylar Shackley, Bryan, Breyanna and Brenna Barboza, Jessica, Christopher, Den- nis and Daniel and their families and Barbara, Faith and Hannah; great-grandchildren, Brayden, Kendall, Noah, Gunnar, Aliyah and Emery; brother Leon (Karen) of Rockland; nephew Chris (Nancy) of Hollis who lived with his aunt and uncle for many years and felt they were his second parents. Ex-son-in-law Dean Bardoza and ex-daughter-in-law LaNell Shackley whom he always felt were his “children,” as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, brother Robert (Bob) and granddaughter Krista.
Services will be determined by the family at a later date.
In lieu of owers, donations in Larry’s memory may be made to the Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital, at Maine Medical Center.
