Letter writer seeks help in finding Irishes
Roland Irish is digging into his family history.
The Charlestown, N.H. resident has discovered he could use a little help filling in some of the blanks.
“I am looking for relatives in the Bridgton area of Ruth Irish. I met her years ago on a vacation trip and found that we were relatives through my great grandfather, Arnold Irish,” said Roland, who is Roland R. Irish III, grandson of Arnold’s first son-Roland R. Irish Sr.
Ruth had been working on a family tree, which she showed Roland, and it went back into the 1700s.
“She was going to have copies made, and her daughter was helping her do the research. I have lost the hand-written copies I made and want to find anyone that may have a copy of Ruth’s work, so I can work on our family history,” he wrote The News. “I know my grandfather was born in Bridgton. I saw the town record of his birth and that is what led me to Ruth. Some of the interesting information I garnered from this was that I am the first son, of the first son, (Roland Jr.), of the first son, (Roland Sr.) of Arnold, whom I believe was also a ‘first son.’ I now have MY first so, (Roland IV and my first grandson (Roland V).”
Arnold ended up in Massachusetts, and Roland thinks he passed away in the early 1950s.
“We have an old photo which we have always believed to be Arnold holding me as a baby,” Roland wrote. “Ruth is a relative, I think, through marriage to a relative or family member of Arnold.”
Roland would appreciate anyone with information to contact him so he can work on the family tree.
“I have registered my DNA on 23 and Me, and only found many distant relatives but no one close,” he added. “My son has been working on a family tree through Ancestry and same as me, has not located any relatives.”
Anyone who might be able to fill in some of the missing pieces can contact Roland R. Irish III by e-mail at: rr.irish3@gmail.com
His address is: 161 Morways Park, Charlestown, NH 03603.
