Marion R. Kerlew

Marion R. Kerlew, 95, died on Thursday, Feb. 3, 2022, after a sudden decline, at her home in Queens, N.Y. She died peacefully with her family gathered around her.
Marion was born April 27, 1926, the daughter of Winnifred Evans and Dennis Senior. She grew up in Washington Heights, New York City, during The Great Depression.
Marion graduated from Hunter College, became a teacher, and taught in New York City schools for close to 40 years.
She was happily married to William Kerlew for 66 years. They were married on Aug. 6, 1950 and had four children. They moved to Bridgton in the mid 1990s to be closer to their daughter and four grandchildren in Maine. Marion made many friends through the folk dances she organized in Bridgton and the Jumping Jane’s group, she loved her ladies luncheons at Tom’s Homestead Restaurant, and she also volunteered at her grandchildren’s elementary school.
Marion is predeceased by her husband, William; her daughter, Karen; and her son, Ari.
She is survived by her son, Clyde, of Queens N.Y.; her daughter, Judith, of Bridgton; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A small celebration of life will be held on April 23.
