Melvin J. Tobin
FRYEBURG – Melvin J. Tobin, 94, passed away on Sunday, February 6, 2022, at the Bella Point Assisted Living Facility in Fryeburg.
He was born January 29, 1928, in Paducah, Ky., a son of the late Nathan and Rose (Green) Tobin. Melvin graduated from high school, then joined the military during World War II, serving in both the United States Army and Navy. After the war, he went on to complete his college degree.
He married his wife Bernice Frances Johnson in 1952. He was an insurance investigator for and retired from the Retail Credit Company. Melvin and Bernice eventually moved to Maine, where he sold real estate for many years. He loved to ski at Pleasant Mountain and also enjoyed traveling to the islands and beaches with his wife.
He is survived by his sons, Robert J. and wife Jean, and John J. and wife Rosa; his grandchildren, Matthew, Rebecca and April; his great-grandchildren, Jacob and Amelia; sisters Marilyn and Anna Rae.
He was predeceased by parents; and his loving wife Bernice.
Arrangements are under the care of Wood Funeral Home, 9 Warren Street, Fryeburg. Keeping with Melvin’s wishes all services are private and at the convenience of the family. Interment will be at a later date at #4 Cemetery in Lovell.
