Philip S. Bauckman
ENFIELD, CONN. — Philip Stuart Bauckman, 89, joined his beloved wife “Janie” Dorcas Jane (Arris) Bauckman in heaven on Sunday, June 5, 2022.
Philip was born in Portland, Maine, on November 21, 1932, the only child of Harry and Alice (Merrifield) Bauckman. Phil’s family settled in Bridgton, where he graduated from Bridgton High School class of 1952.
After graduation, he joined the United States Air Force and soon married his high school sweetheart. Phil was trained as an aircraft mechanic and attended night school to obtain an airframe and power plant license. He served honorably and after discharge moved to Connecticut and was employed by Pratt & Whitney for 34 years in experimental assembly retiring as a foreman. During his career, he was involved with numerous newly designed jet engines that eventually became part of our military and commercial aviation. Many are still in service today. He was proud of that and so are we.
He was always the dependable husband, Dad, Grampa, or friend willing to help in a moment of need. We were blessed with a man who would “go the distance” to help someone.
Phil and Janie shared many endeavors together in their 61 years of marriage and especially enjoyed vacationing in Maine with family and friends as did his extended family.
He is survived by and will be greatly missed by his children Polly Locklear and son Philip S. Bauckman Jr. of Enfield, Conn., grandchildren, Matthew Bauckman and his wife Jolene, Nathan Locklear and partner Robyn Coriarty of Enfield, Conn., Timothy Locklear and his wife Mimma of Orange, Conn., Sarah Jane Locklear and partner Tyler James of West Hartford, Conn., brothers-in-law Timothy and David Arris of Bridgton, sister-in-law Judy (Arris) Giles of Lake Elsinore, Cali., and great-grandchildren Luke and Travis Bauckman, Gabriel, Sophia Jane, and Francesca Locklear, Christianna Locklear and Lucas Locklear Dos Santos.
“Where Christ leads we shall follow”
The family will celebrate his life privately. Burial will be in Bridgton, Maine at the convenience of the family. Donations may be made to the American Legion.
