NORWAY — Rita Ann Holmberg, 80, of Naples and Avon Park, Fla., died, Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2023 at the Stephens Memorial Hospital in Norway.

She was born on July 30, 1943, in Quincy, Mass., a daughter of Clarence and Lillian (Gallagher) Leahy. She attended local schools, graduating from North Quincy High School.

On May 22, 1967, she married Richard Holmberg. They made their home in Pembroke, Mass. and she worked for a short time in administration at Howard Johnson’s and at Stop & Shop before beginning her career in real estate. She retired from Jack Conway Real Estate in Whitman, Mass. after many years of service.

As a young woman, Rita was Girl Scout leader in Massachusetts. Later in life, she belonged to the Red Hatters in Avon Park, Fla., where she and Richard enjoyed the winter months. She was a voracious reader and card player. She also enjoyed yard sales, regardless of the state.

She is survived by her husband, Richard of Naples and Avon Park, Fla., a daughter, Doreen Browne and her husband, James of Norton, Mass., a son, Rick Holmberg of Stoughton, Mass., a niece, Melissa Reeder of Kingston, Mass., four grandchildren, Cecelia and Andrew Browne, Courtney and Bryan Holmberg; great nieces, Kate-Lynn and Holly Reeder-Morning; a great-great nephew, Jeremiah Reeder.

She was predeceased by a sister, Brenda Reeder.

Catholic prayers will be shared at the Hall Funeral Home, 165 Quaker Ridge Road in Casco on Wednesday afternoon, Nov. 8 at 3 p.m. There will be a time of visitation one hour prior to the service from 2 to 3 p.m. Committal services will be held at 12 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 9 at the Southern Maine Memorial Veterans Cemetery, 83 Stanley Road in Springvale.
