Thomas R. Smith, 76, of Lakeville, Minn., passed away on Dec. 28, 2019, in Tampa, Fla.

He was born on Feb. 23, 1943 to Robert and Mabel Smith in Malden, Mass. The family later moved to Bridgton, where they owned and operated the campground on Salmon Point off Kansas Road, formally known as Potts Camp. Tom graduated from Bridgton High School in 1960.

He raised his family in Concord, N.H. Tom worked for New England Tel. and Tel. for 14 years, earned a degree of science from New Hampshire College, then went to work for Ericsson Communications as an area manager, later transferring to Minnesota.

He had a passion for swimming, biking and running. The last 26 years, he kept active participating in marathons and triathlons.

Tom is survived by his wife, Virginia of Lakeville, Minn.; four children, twins Tommy and Tammy, Hellen and Stephanie; two stepsons, Chad and Tobias; 11 grandchildren; brother, Jimmy; sisters, Ann Robbins and Sue McCullough.

Tom was predeceased by his parents; older brother, Bobby; and a niece.

Tom was a wonderful loving husband, father and grandfather. Kind at all times to everyone and great sense of humor. He never lost his New England accent. He is greatly missed by all.

A private family memorial gathering is planned.
